Worked with Tsanko @ BG Plumbing. Initially, he recommended a true tankless system, but we asked him to get us a quote for an Eternal. He gave us a fair price and timely installation. The water in the kitchen takes a little longer to heat up, but that's probably because the water has to travel twice the distance it used to. Water to the master bath heats a lot quicker ... that's a good thing.

Jeff explained the Eternal Tankless Hot Water Heater system, the cost, how the installation work would be done, and answered all of my questions prior to my decision to go with the project. Everything was done according to plan. The installation work was neat and professional. I'm very satisfied with the unit. They installed the tankless heater in my garage and removed an old 80-gallon conventional hot water tank from my attic. I sleep better at night knowing that I no longer have a potential leak disaster waiting in my attic. The new tankless heater fit perfectly in my garage and the County inspector commented that the work was done very neatly and everything was correctly installed. I'm happy with the entire project. I wish I had done it years ago.

The hot water heater makes a loud banging sound when washing clothes on hot water. Butterfield plumbing came out to figure out what was going on but after talking with eternal implied the unit was fine and that we needed to get our off the shelf maytag neptune front loading washer fixed. we didn't see any warning that our clothes washer would not work with this water heater or would not have purchased the water heater. Butterfield also installed water hammer dampeners. They are returning Monday March 26th, 2012 to check the machine out again since it was moved closer to the water heater now that the laundry room has been finished. I talked with Pedro in technical service today 3-22-2012 who mentioned that the service call Butterfield made was not logged against our serial number. this type of log is an excellent method to maintain history of the water heater in question. hopefully things get better. It does provide great hot water for showers and has saved on our energy bill. If the banging issue can be solved we'll be very happy.

I called the technical service line and they were very helpful and able to tell me how to fix the problem so the unit worked correctly. I'm a general contractor and had my plumber, Sweet Water Plumbing purchase and install the unit at my home. The installation replaced a 50 gallon tank type water heater in the same location so the installation was pretty straight forward. I had removed the old water heater before Sweet Water arrived so they were able to get right on the installation which went very smoothly. The eternal provides plenty of hot water and I hope to see a reduction in my propane usage. My only slightly negative comment would be the popping off when the unit fires up, generally three or four times and then it rums very quietly.

The condensate drain fitting and the drain valve assembly could both be a little better engineered so that the valve assembly and the PVC condensate drain fittings cound be tightened up snuggly. To have to back them up 3/4 of a turn on the drain valve assembly and 1/3 of a turn on the condensate fitting is not a good design. Other than this ,I think its a good unit. It would also be nice if the front panel were hinged instead of having to figure out what to do with it besides unplug it or hang it up somehow while working on it.

Great experience - the installation went smooth from start to finish. Cold water was available for most time except maybe for 10 min when the old tank was disconnected. The new unit works perfectly - it now takes only 30-45 sec for hot water to arrive at my shower, down from previously 1.5 min. And most of the time the burner does not even have to turn on since often one just needs a bit hot water here and there. Raymond from On Demand Water Heaters was very friendly and professional and left the place very clean. I had been considering a tankless for a while now, and when my tank water heater needed sudden repairs, my plumber had nothing but great things to say about the Eternal. Installation was super fast (less than one day) and the unit looks great in my utility room. Could not be pleased more with the performance. We’ve had it for about a week, and the water is hot and gets to temp very quickly. When I am in my finished basement, I can hear the unit make a little noise, which is from the air intake, but it’s very minor. Great product so far!
